Who we are

The controller for the personal data described here is WeatherSens AI Oy (Business ID 3634271-5), a company based in Finland. For anything related to your data, write to info@weathersens.com.

No cookies, no cross-site tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no comparable technologies: no advertising or social-media pixels, and no profile that follows you from one site to another. Fonts, video, and every other asset are served from our own domain. The one exception is our own forecast service, which the forecasts and models pages call directly and which is described below; apart from that, visiting this site causes your browser to talk to no one except us and our hosting provider.

The aggregate visitor and performance statistics described below work without writing anything to your device or reading anything back from it. The only thing this site can ever store on your device is a flag recording that you opted out of those statistics, if you choose to. Storing a refusal is permitted without consent under the EU ePrivacy rules precisely because it exists to respect one. Nothing here is used to identify you, which is why you will not see a cookie banner.

What we process

Hosting logs

The site is served by Vercel Inc. Like any web server, Vercel's infrastructure processes technical data about each request (your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, timestamps, and an approximate location derived from the IP address) in order to deliver the site and to detect and block abuse such as denial-of-service attacks. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning website (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). These logs are kept only for a limited time and are never used to identify visitors or build profiles.

Visitor and performance statistics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see how many people read the site, which pages they reach, and how quickly those pages actually load on real devices. Both are cookieless: they write nothing to your browser and read nothing back from it. What is recorded is the page you viewed, the referring site, your approximate location, your device type, operating system and browser, and page-loading measurements such as rendering and responsiveness times. The location is approximate and derived from your IP address, which is itself not stored with the measurement.

To count a repeat view without storing anything on your device, Vercel derives a temporary identifier on its servers by hashing the incoming request. It is not readable by us, is never used to follow you across other websites, and is discarded automatically after twenty-four hours. We see only aggregate figures and cannot single you out in them. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding whether the site works and reaches its audience (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). If you would rather not be counted at all, common content blockers suppress these requests, and the site remains fully functional without them. Vercel describes its handling in its Web Analytics privacy documentation.

You can also simply switch it off, here and now. Opting out takes effect immediately and permanently on this device: the measurement scripts are then never loaded at all, so no request leaves your browser in the first place.

Your browser has JavaScript disabled, which means the measurement described above never runs for you at all. The opt-out switch that would normally appear here needs JavaScript, but you have nothing to opt out of.

Remembering that refusal is the one exception to the rule that this site stores nothing on your device: a single flag recording your choice, and nothing else. It holds no identifier and is never sent anywhere. Turning measurement back on deletes it, leaving your device holding nothing from us again.

Our forecast service

Two pages show live forecasts, so they have to fetch them while you read. On our forecasts page your browser requests the list of sites and the forecast you select. On our models page a small forecast widget is embedded in a frame, which your browser loads the same way it loads any page. Both go to our forecast service at rantasaa-widget.onrender.com, which we operate and which is hosted for us by Render Services, Inc. Making those requests discloses your IP address, browser type, and which site's forecast was asked for, in the same way any web request does. No other page on this site contacts it.

These requests carry no cookies and no identifier: the forecasts page sends them with credentials omitted, and the embedded widget sets nothing on your device, so nothing that could link one request to another leaves your browser. We use the data only to serve the forecast and to keep the service running and protected from abuse, and the resulting logs are kept only for a limited time. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing our own product working (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).

Email you send us

If you email info@weathersens.com, we process your email address, name, and the contents of your message so we can reply and handle whatever the conversation is about. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries or, where your message concerns a potential agreement, the steps needed before entering a contract (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). We keep correspondence only as long as the exchange or the business relationship requires.

Where the data lives

Vercel operates infrastructure globally, including in the United States. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and transfers are additionally covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in Vercel's data processing agreement. Vercel's own privacy notice describes its handling of this data in detail.

The forecast service behind those two pages is hosted for us by Render Services, Inc., a United States company. Where that involves transferring data outside the EEA, the transfer is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in Render's data processing addendum; Render's privacy policy describes its own handling.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can, at any time:

• ask for access to the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected, or data we no longer need deleted;
• ask us to restrict processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interest;
• receive data you have given us in a portable format.

Write to info@weathersens.com and we will respond within a month. If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Finnish supervisory authority, the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.

Changes

If this site ever starts collecting more than described here, such as a contact form, cookies, or embedded third-party content, this notice will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
